Need
COVID-19 test samples must be collected and transported from a hospital to a laboratory where they are analyzed. The turnover time (time between taking a sample and getting a result) is approximately 24 hours. This is too long for priority samples, where a turnover time of 6 hours is targeted.
At the moment, it is unknown where and why the priority samples get stuck and end up with a turnover time similar to a standard sample.
Goal
Develop a tracking solution for the priority samples. With such a system, it should be possible to identify where and why time is lost.
The system will be implemented with smartphones. They contain all the necessary tracking hardware and, thus, allow for rapid development.
